2. Limited access

3. No storage space

Advice: Drawers provide plenty of space for small items necessary in the kitchen. Add additional hidden drawers inside the existing drawers for better organisation and storage space.

4. Incorrect installation of devices

Advice: There should be at least 30 cm of usable space around the hob, oven and sink. In order not to feel limited, do not mount any of these kitchen appliances against a wall.

5. No efficient light

Advice: A greatly lit kitchen is not only preferable for the aesthetical purposes but also for safety reasons. If you don’t have enough natural light in the kitchen, make sure to install artificial lights which will make food preparation and dining safer and more pleasurable.

6. No dining space

Advice: For small spaces, sometimes we just skip over having a designated dining area and eat in the sofa in the living room. But to feel more at home and be able to bring people over for dinner, it is worth considering to plan a comfortable space for a table or even a pull-out table.

7. No splashback

Advice: Proper wall protection will help to keep the walls clean and will decorate the kitchen at the same time. Consider a type of backsplash that is easy to clean, such as tiles or glass.

8. Poorly positioned electrical sockets

Advice: Consider whether you want the sockets to be visible or hidden as well as how many sockets you will need and where.
