The Psychology Of Redesigning Your Kitchen
Whether you are moving into a new home, or you are looking to redesign the interior of the home you already have, there is no denying that the kitchen is the central hub of your home and is oftentimes, the first room people visit. Whether it is a fresh lick of paint or a brand-new kitchen, this can all help to give your home the refresh that it needs. Here, we are going to take a look into the psychology behind interior design and how details such as colour can help to make you and your family feel comfortable.
Colour
Colour is one of the key aspects to remember when redesigning any home as this can greatly affect your mood. When redesigning my kitchen, I opted for a light creme colour for the walls as this versatile colour goes with almost any room and perfectly accentuates the darker countertops I went for. Following this same rule, other colours such as red and pink can be used to energize and increase appetite and therefore may be beneficial for your kitchen space depending on your overall colour theme. Due to the darker colour of my Faktum kitchen cupboard fronts, I wanted the walls to be neutral in order to perfectly compliment the colour them and create a classic modern style.
Style
In addition to this, the style of the kitchen can greatly affect the mood. If you are lucky enough to have the space, adding an island into the centre of the kitchen can help to encourage conversation and make the space seem welcoming to visitors. This is ideal for those that love to host as stools can be added to create a comfortable environment for the family as well as for those that come to visit. This was great for my kitchen as it allows the family to cook and prepare meals together. In addition to this, every little detail counts when designing your new kitchen space and therefore it is important to consider elements such as handles and other furnishings as these act as the finishing touch to your interior design efforts.
Natural Lighting
Natural lighting is key to interior design particularly in a kitchen space as it helps the room to appear larger than it is as well as reducing the need for artificial lighting. If you have a large amount of garden space, using sliding doors to open up to the garden space can help the house to flow and create an area you will want to spend time in. If you are looking to dress the window without intruding on the rest of the kitchen, use a wooden blind or window dressing as this will help to bring the room together.
Creative Storage Solutions
When redesigning your kitchen, it is important to ensure that you have the space you need to prepare amazing meals for you and the whole family. By implementing creative storage solutions, you can declutter your kitchen space and give a great first impression to guests. Whether this is a brand new set of shelves or a sideboard to store items such as placemats and cutlery, you can keep your kitchen clean whilst providing you with the practicality that you need.
Regardless of whether you are looking to redesign your kitchen in the near future, or you are taking the time to plan the redesign process, there are a number of ways that colour, overall positioning and natural light can influence the overall look and feel of your brand new space.
