Preparations for assembly:
If you receive the new PAX wardrobe carcass before you have received the Noremax doors, you can assemble the frame and all the accessories to put away clothes and shoes while waiting for doors. This won’t apply to corner units if you have ordered Noremax plinth. The plinth can be unscrewed and replaced in standard PAX units but in the corner unit, the partial dismantling of the frame would be required.
Keep in mind that the hinges placements are fixed and cannot be changed without affecting the final look. We have therefore made an overview of where the hinges should be placed so that you avoid mounting drawers and shelves at specified points.
PAX with 201cm height, 3 pcs of hinges are placed as follow (from top):
Top hinge, hole no: 3/4
Midter hinge, hole no: 29/30 (stands out from IKEA)
Bottom hinge, hole no: 56/57 or 3/4 counted from below
On PAX with 236cm height, 4 hinges are placed as follow (from top):
Hinge 1, hole no: 3/4
Hinge 2, hole no: 32/33
Hinge 3, hole no: 38/39
Hinge 4, hole no: 67/68 or 3/4 counted from below
What is the difference between Noremax hinges and IKEA hinges for PAX wardrobes?
IKEA uses their own soft closing hinges with an oil motor and integrated dumper. The oil often leaks and stains the doors.
Noremax uses good quality BLUM hinges with mechanical bearing (no oil). The hinges have an opening angle of 110 degrees with an integrated damper. A mounting plate is also included to attach these to the frame in the correct position. Our Blum hinges fit the PAX hinge holes.
