Kitchen DIY Makeover; All You Need To Know
With the lockdown in place due to coronavirus, now is the perfect time to give your kitchen a well-deserved makeover. Whether you have been putting it off as you haven’t had enough time or you’re looking for something to do to pass the time, a kitchen DIY makeover is the ideal solution! So, what do you need to consider and how can you transform your kitchen DIY-style?
Paint or Replace Kitchen Cabinet Doors
Painting kitchen cabinets can be a cheap and easy way to refresh your kitchen space. If you have cream walls you can use a bold colour to decorate the cabinets with or just paint some of the cabinets in the kitchen. Alternatively, you could keep the cabinets a cream colour and have one wall painted a different colour. The choice is completely yours as you experiment with different colours to find the best one for your kitchen.
It’s important that you prime your cabinets before you paint them. Primer can be purchased from local stores, as well as paint that is suitable for use on melamine, MDF cupboards and wood.
Alternatively, you can also achieve a fresh, new look for your kitchen by replacing the IKEA kitchen fronts of the cabinets. By just replacing the fronts, this can make a difference to the whole feel of the kitchen, plus you don’t have to replace the whole kitchen, helping you to stay within your budget. The carcass of the kitchen can stay the same as you simply add new fronts in the colour of your choice, without having to spend hours painting!
Change Your Kitchen Storage
By making a few changes in your kitchen can alter the appearance of the room and refresh it. Changing the kitchen storage is an easy way to achieve this, as you sort through your kitchen cupboards to organise all the utensils. You can transform old bed slats and upcycle them to hang utensils on that you regularly use. Simply add some hooks for hanging utensils and other kitchen accessories, including tee-towels. If you don’t have any bed slats that you no longer need, you can use leftover pieces of plywood and cut them into small pieces.
Create A Feature Wall
There are a number of ways you can create a feature wall in your kitchen, and one of the most recent ideas is to make it a chalkboard. This creative addition to your kitchen space can be used to write shopping lists on, recipes that you want to use, you can use it as a family planner and add anything you want to the chalkboard to add a personal touch to your kitchen space. Children can draw pictures on the chalkboard and you can leave little notes for each other too.
Change The Handles
Another way you can change the basic structure of the kitchen is to change the handles. The whole look of the room can be altered simply by replacing the handles with a new style. You can choose a handle that works best with the décor of your kitchen, whilst maintaining consistency throughout your interior design. From amfi door handles to ball door handles and BOA handles, you can find a handle that will fit seamlessly into your metod kitchen or on your faktum kitchen cabinets.
