FAQ
Installation
Does Noremax offer products installation?
Noremax does not have its own assemblers. To avoid damage and scratches which may occur during assembly, especially on lacquered/painted fronts, we always recommend using a professional carpenter.
Installing fronts is done in the same way as installing IKEA fronts (except the side panels).
Where can I find hinges? What are my options?
Noremax supplies replacement kitchen cabinet fronts and wardrobe fronts. Unfortunately, we do not sell hinges except the ones for PAX wardrobes. If you require hinges for the IKEA Metod system or Besta storage, we recommend buying them directly from IKEA.
Noremax sells good quality hinges for PAX wardrobes and those are necessary when you buy Noremax Linoleum wardrobe fronts due to the door thickness. You can choose Noremax or IKEA’s hinges for any other design.
Furthermore, if you require hinges for the IKEA Faktum system, we advise you to find a manufacturer who can produce these types of hinges as IKEA does not sell these systems anymore. In such instances, it is advisable to take note of how your cabinets operate, i.e., how you open the cabinets so you can find a suitable replacement.
You can take a look at BLUM fitting solutions designed, engineered, and made in Austria but sell widely in the UK. Blum used to provide IKEA with Faktum kitchen hinges.
Also, Noremax recommends finding a professional carpenter who can adjust Metod kitchen or even PAX wardrobe hinges, available to purchase at IKEA, modifying them to fit the Faktum system.
Of course, if you have an IKEA Faktum system and your existing hinges are not damaged, you’ll be able to reuse them when you choose to change the kitchen cabinet fronts.
Can I dismantle and assemble fronts myself?
If you are a general handyman and feel competent in taking measurements, you’ll likely be able to change the fronts of your cabinets. However, if you are struggling or don’t feel confident in doing so, our advice is to contact your local carpenter, building company, or kitchen fitter who will be able to fit the replacement kitchen cabinet fronts without any hassle.
What to consider when installing side panels and how to install them?
The side panels are usually wider than the cabinet itself. This is to cover the carcass itself, the thickness of the front (door) plus a few mm to be able to adjust the panel to the wall/floor which often turns out to be uneven. Side panels can always be customized by cutting the sides facing the wall or floor.
If you are customizing side panels yourself, please take into account that often they have to be adapted to the uneven floor, the wall, and the carcass itself. It must be considered that it is not always worthwhile to order side panels in exact measurements without having to adapt on-site as well.
Side panels should be mounted from the inside of the cabinet using mounting screws. Screws do not come with side panels, so we recommend using very common mounting screws that can be purchased in places like Screwfix or B&Q or using our wooden screws that can be purchased from Noremax. It is important not to use too long screws to avoid screws passing through the side panels. Side panels are 12mm thick.
If you have no experience in joinery work, we always recommend using professionals for the best possible result.
Does Noremax provide an installation guide for the fronts?
Noremax doesn’t provide the installation guide for the cabinet frames nor the fronts. Please follow IKEA’s installation instructions. Noremax products are adapted to IKEA’s concept and sizes.
Since the thickness of our doors may be different from IKEA’s doors, please make sure that used hinge screws (even the ones you bought from IKEA) are no longer than the thickness of our doors to avoid disappointment. Noremax cannot accept claims for damage caused by screws that have gone through the door or caused the damage.
Please note, the main difference when installing side panels is that they must be attached to the existing sides of your cabinet frames and screwed in from the inside of the cabinets.
When installing the plinth, either for the kitchen or wardrobe, please note that the wooden dowels provided by IKEA may not always perfectly fit the pre-drilled holes on the plinth. This is due to slight variations in dowels sizes. Please don’t push them in if they are too tight to avoid damage to the plinth and use smaller size dowels. Noremax won’t be accepting claims for damaged plinth if the dowels were forced in.
How do I install the plinth?
The Besta storage and sideboard will be installed exactly the same way as IKEA’s. Noremax will send the plinth clips and screws for for easy installation.
IKEA has a rail on their plinths to slide on the kitchen Metod legs. Our plinths are made out of the same material as the fronts, and the customer will have to install the clips and screws to the plinth based on where they have installed the legs.
Noremax PAX wardrobe plinths are the only element that replaces the original plinth. You can either do that upon wardrobe assembling or if your PAX shell is already built (and it’s not a corner unit) then you can unscrew the original plinth, pull it out, place the new plinth in position and screw it in. This may require a little bit more precision and will be possible if the wooden dowels were not previously used.
Please note – our plinth for PAX wardrobes will come with the screws but without wooden dowels, however, it will have holes made for them. Please place the dowels into the holes with care as the dowels sizes may slightly vary. If the dowel feels too tight, do not force it into the hole as this may cause damage to the plinth. Noremax won’t be responsible for those damages.
Will underfloor heating affect the Noremax products?
Most furniture is fine to place on top of an underfloor heating system however we don’t recommend placing the cabinets that will have Noremax wooden fronts installed on them.
This is because those fronts are covered with veneer bonded with glue. When exposed to constant heat the glue may eventually start slightly melting down and cause deformation. Also, wood itself over time may start to bend.
Why Noremax hinges for PAX wardrobes are good?
Noremax uses good quality BLUM hinges with mechanical bearings (no oil) unlike Ikea which uses oil motor hinges. Blum hinges have an opening angle of 110 degrees with an integrated damper. A mounting plate is also included to attach these to the frame in the correct position. Our Blum hinges will fit the PAX hinge holes.
Will the PAX wardrobe plinth cover fully the original frame?
Noremax plinth is replacing the original IKEA plinth. This means the small pieces of the original wardrobe sides will be exposed. You can check the actual plinth length under the blue question mark next to the product.
You can either order our 4cm longer (at the bottom) door to cover most of the plinth or you can paint the exposed sides with our 100ml paint jar that can be purchased with your doors.
How Should the ventilation grille be installed?
Installing the ventilation grille is very simple.
You need to make a 45.5×6.5 cut-out in the MDF plinth and fit the metal plate inside.
You can download and print the two A4 paper sheets, put them together in a way they don’t move and follow the trace with the scissor.
Then stick the stencil on the plinth. According to which kitchen you have, follow the Metod or the Faktum borders, making sure it is centred, then easily and accurately cut out the plinth yourself.
Once you have drilled the 18mm hole in the plinth, simply fit the grid into the MDF frame.
A copy of the cut-out stencil can be downloaded here.

Notice: If you don´t want to do the cut out on your own, you can order a 60cm/80cm plinth module with an already integrated cut out.
Product
Is METOD more expensive than FAKTUM?
The prices are more or less the same. However, the finish you will choose for your fronts may affect the price.
Can I still order fronts for my Faktum Kitchen?
Yes, you can order all Faktum fronts at Noremax as well as sides and plinths.
Please note this applies to the latest Faktum kitchen series IKEA made. Any older Faktum series than the latest one may need some adjustments in drawer hinge holes layout.
Also, you will notice that the side panels for Faktum kitchens have the same measurements as for Metod kitchens and they might need to be adapted on-site or customized by us on request (an additional fee will apply).
What’s the difference between Metod and Faktum?
To find out whether you have IKEA Metod or Faktum kitchen, simply check out the holes on the inside of your kitchen cabinet. The Faktum cabinets have one row of holes along the edge, while the Metod cabinets have two rows.
The Faktum plinth is 16 cm while the Metod plinth is 8 cm. You can also check the dimensions on the fronts; Metod has even numbers like 20, 40, 60, and 100 cm. The base cabinets have different heights as well; Metod has a height of 80 cm while Faktum has a height of 70 cm.
Do you have an IKEA guide for FAKTUM kitchen?
Yes. If you’re planning on renovating your FAKTUM IKEA kitchen, our customization options can help bring a little bespoke beauty to your space, and you can check the IKEA guide that is accessed here. This will show you details for doors, cabinets, and drawers’ dimensions and door designs they have offered in the past.
Do you make fronts to Pax wardrobe systems?
Yes, we make hinged doors for PAX wardrobes. In addition, you can also purchase side panels and plinths.
How many hinges do I need for my PAX wardrobe doors?
201 cm high PAX wardrobe will require 3 hinges per door
236 cm high PAX wardrobe will require 4 hinges per door
My IKEA kitchen planner is showing a drawer front instead of the horizontal cabinet door, is that correct?
Yes. IKEA has started adding drawers front on the Metod kitchen planner in replacement of horizontal doors as these doors have different hinges adapted to drawer fronts. You will still receive the horizontal door but when we quote you based on your IKEA planner, we will add a drawer to the quotation, so the hinge holes layout is correct.
Will the Noremax fronts for Faktum kitchens have the same hinge holes layout?
IKEA Faktum drawer fronts in sizes 40×13, 60×13, and 80×13 may not fit due to changes in the drawer fastener system. This change might not be noticeable if the drawer front is flipped upside down but becomes apparent when installed in the normal direction. For drawer fronts with milled grips, new holes may need to be made for proper installation. Using an old drawer front as a template can help determine where to place these holes.
Regarding Noremax fronts for Faktum kitchens, they will have the same hinge hole layout as the latest Faktum series (2008/2009 and later), known as the “Rationell” system. For older Faktum series, adjustments may be needed for drawer fronts 13cm high, such as drilling new holes on-site or slightly adjusting drawer slides. Hinge holes for older Faktum series doors should generally be okay, but some minor adjustments might still be required.

Design and product specifications
Do all wood veneer fronts have the same wood texture?
Wooden fronts like all natural materials have unique grain pattern disparities. Each furniture piece will have its unique colour, texture and pattern variation. With that said, it can be expected that all furniture fronts in natural wood will have a unique variation, including knots, black lines, colour difference, tiger grain etc. If you wish to have the exact same wood structure on your furniture, fronts in wood imitation laminate are recommended. However, this is nothing Noremax offers.
Samples in natural wood with different stains can be ordered to get an approximate picture of what the fronts may look like, but since wood is a natural material, we cannot guarantee that your order will look identical to that specific sample, hence it´s not something that would be considered an acceptable reason for the claim.
Oak wood has very attractive open wood grain markings, however, it can also have tight lines making it look more like ash wood. Sometimes the oak is streaked with green, yellow, or black mineral deposits but the overall hue is more golden brown compared to the yellowish ash wood.
Ash wood comes in various colours, ranging from white to pale brown but the overall colour expression is mostly yellowish. To tell this apart from the other wood types, you can refer to the wood grain. Ash wood has long and quite straight wood graining in most cases, but not always.
Walnut wood is darker than ash and oak. The colour often ranges heavily from creamy white in the sapwood to dark chocolate in the heartwood and is bold both in structure and colour.

What materials do Noremax use for each model and why do you choose them?
The majority of our fronts are made of high-quality furniture board MDF. Sourced from natural raw materials, MDF is very durable and does not warp or crack. Even with extreme changes in humidity and temperature, there’s very little chance of damage to your cabinet doors. Made from very fine particles, MDF does not have a noticeable grain which results in a better and smooth finish, especially when the board is painted.
In terms of the ranges, we offer here at Noremax the following fronts are made of MDF and then be painted to produce a very smooth appearance; Basic, Instyle, Ontime, Elegance, Circle, Exit, Classic, Classic Style, Wonder, Skyline, Moon, Diamond, Empire and Escape.
Our Nordic/Skyline/ Nordic Wonder fronts are also made of MDF, but these fronts are then covered with ash or oak veneer which highlights the beautiful natural structure of the wood. Depending on your personal preferences, these fronts can be painted, varnished, or stained.
Enigma fronts are made of veneered MDF in either ash or oak with vertical grains and discrete thin frames. Depending on your personal preferences, these fronts can be painted, varnished, or stained.
Nordic Walnut fronts are made of MDF covered with Walnut veneer that can be covered just with a clear coat or hard wax oil
Classic Max / Classic Frame fronts are made of MDF covered with ash wood veneer and it has a solid ash wood frame rather than MDF. These fronts can also be painted, varnished, or stained.
Nordic+ fronts are made of birch plywood (6 layers) and are covered with ash or oak veneer that has vertical wood grains. Depending on your personal preferences, these fronts can be painted (only ash not oak), varnished, or stained.
Linoleum fronts are made of MDF covered with Linoleum at the front and oak veneer at the back and on the edges. Linoleum has a standard matte finish and it comes in 20 different colours. Oak veneer can be oiled to retain the natural wood colour or it can be stained and treated with oil on top (we offer 12 stain colours).
Mesh/Glass fronts collection is made of MDF frame (except Mesh Classic Max which has ash wood frame) and perforated metal or glass centre. They can only be painted.
Bamboo fronts are made of compressed Moso bamboo treated with a matte clear lacquer and it comes in 2 colour options: natural and caramel.
Pure fronts are made of coloured HDF with a matte finish. This material is more durable, water-resistant and it shows fewer fingerprints. This comes in a matte finish giving the impression of the soft fabric. The Pure design will come in standard black, grey and light grey colours but on request, we will also offer green, blue and yellow.
We also offer Pure Linoleum fronts that are the same as above but also have linoleum on the front.
Soft Ultra-Matt fronts are made of MDF with polymeric foil on top which is very soft to the touch and comes with a super matte finish. The best features of the design are that the material incorporates an innovative anti-scratch and anti-fingerprint technology. This design comes in 4 standard colours and 12 others on request.
Linen fronts are made of MDF covered with durable laminate resembling linen fabric. Laminate comes in 4 different colours.
Can you explain more about front models which have grip handles and about the ones which require handles upon installation? Where can I find push-to-open systems?
Here at Noremax, we offer plenty of options when it comes to handles. We offer a range of models with integrated grip handles (look at our models Instyle, Ontime, Circle, Exit, and Elegance). For other models which don’t have grip (engraved) handles, you will need to install your chosen handles or push system at your own discretion.
Across our website, we offer a wide range of handles for you to choose from. However, if you are looking for push-to-open systems, in particular, we recommend you visit IKEA. Furthermore, if you are not confident in installing handles or push-to-open systems, we recommend you contact a local carpenter who will be able to assist you.
Are all doors/drawers made with holes for hinges and come with hinges and screws like IKEA’s parts?
All Noremax standard fronts come with pre-drilled hinge holes. Hinges for kitchens, storage and sideboards will need to be purchased separately at IKEA.
We only sell hinges for PAX wardrobes.
We also, sell screws for side panels (50 in a pack) and those can be added to the basket under each product design (right at the bottom).
The plinth is the only part that comes with plinth clips. Clips are holding the plinth upright against cabinet bases by clipping onto the cabinet legs.
Please be advised that if you use different screws than the ones purchased from IKEA or screws from Noremax, you need to make sure that the screws need to be shorter than the thickness of the side panel and wardrobe carcass. Their length shouldn’t be longer than 2/3 of the total thickness of both, the side panel & carcass, otherwise, the material may risk cracking.
***Please note if you order customized doors the hinge hole placement will be the same as the original front size and not adapted to the new size. We can send the front without pre-drilled hinge holes if you wish us to do so (please let us know in advance). Alternatively, you can provide an exact drawing with a new hinge hole placement but there will be an additional charge for this service.
Do hinges come with Noremax fronts?
In the same way, as in IKEA, no hinges are coming with our fronts.
We recommend going to IKEA which has a very good selection of all necessary fittings.
We only sell hinges for PAX wardrobes and screws for side panels.
What do left and right hung mean?
For ease of reference, the left hung means that the hinges are on the left side. In contrast, right hung means that the hinges are on the right side.
Is it possible to get the fronts delivered with the holes for the handles?
The front doors are delivered without holes for the handles to avoid mistakes.
The handles are mounted on the spot with a screw coming with the handle and it’s normally screwed from the back of the front.
Do you provide screws for handles?
Yes, handles come with screws. The screws are adapted to the thickness of the front. Most of our fronts are 16 or 19 mm thick and you will get appropriate screws for them if you order handles from our collection.
Can I mix door styles on the same furniture?
You can mix the doors providing they have the same thickness across one row or are placed in different rows (not next to each other).
E.g., Basic is 16 mm thick and Instyle is 19 mm thick so you will see a difference if the fronts are put next to each other.
You can check out the door thickness info on the top of each style before considering mixing the styles.
Will the Faktum drawer 60 x 9 cm and Metod 60 x 10 cm have an engraved handle?
The Faktum drawer 60 x 9 cm doesn’t have engraved grips as they were conflicting with the hinge holes layout so this drawer size will be sent blank.
The Metod drawer 60 x 10 cm will have an engraved handle since it doesn’t conflict with the hinge holes layout that is different to Faktum.
Will Noremax Classic designs have the frame on all fronts?
Our Classic, Classic Style and Classic Max models have a 7cm wide frame on the front. This will apply to all doors and drawers accept the below sizes:
60 x 10 cm (Metod)
30 x 13 cm (Faktum)
50 x 13 cm (Faktum)
60 x 9 cm (Faktum)
60 x 13 cm (Faktum)
80 x 13 cm (Faktum)
The above sizes don’t have adequate front space to accommodate the frame. They will be frameless but with the same thickness as the framed fronts.
Please note, that side panels are also frameless, they will come as one plain panel.
Is the thickness of Noremax side panels the same as IKEA’s?
All our side panels are 12mm thick (except Linoleum – 14mm and Bamboo – 20mm) and almost all are made in the Basic model. This is not IKEA’s standard thickness.
If you require a different thickness of the side panel this can be customized for you for an extra charge. The thickest we can make the side panel is 19mm.
Do the side panels match the same design as the other fronts?
Side panels will be painted in the same colour as the rest of the fronts and they will have the same finish however, all side panels are frameless, without any profile or pattern.
Most of them are 12 mm thick and are always made from the same material as fronts.
On special requests, we can match side panels to the same desired door’s design and also make them in nonstandard dimensions however this will occur an additional charge.
Do you have an IKEA Faktum drawer front 6.8 x 39 cm?
The smallest drawer fronts for the last Faktum series are 30 x 13 cm and 60 x 9 cm
Are the side panel sizes are the exact measurements?
Noremax side panel measurements for kitchens/storage/sideboards are rounded the same way as IKEA’s. Please note IKEA rounds the sides with a width of 62cm to round number but the actual measurement is 61.5cm. To read more about the exact measurements please visit IKEA’s website.
Please note that IKEA’s cabinets are usually 59cm deep (not 60cm) but the system builds 1cm with the installation parts. The side panel should be adjusted to the front and cabinet. If the customer wants for example Linoleum fronts to cover the gap to the wall they might need to order a custom side panel.
Faktum kitchens on our website have the same side panel measurements as Metod kitchen. If customers want different sizes they need to customize them or pay Noremax to customize them.
PAX wardrobe side panels have the exact measurements on our website.
What is the position of hinges in a Pax wardrobe measuring 201 cm?
Pax wardrobe, 201cm high, the position of the hinges – starting from the top:
Top hinge hole No: 3/4
Middle hinge hole No: 29/30
Bottom hinge hole No: 56/57 or 3/4 starting from the bottom
Please note our wardrobe doors will have an arrow inside the middle hinge hole pointing at the direction of the lower hinge hole where the bottom hinge should be placed.
That arrow will be spray painted but it will be still visible. For darker colours, this arrow will be covered with a small piece of tape, so the paint won’t cover the arrow completely. We will pull that tape out before sending doors but in case this wasn’t done, you can take a tape off on-site to reveal the arrow.
This marking and the hinge holes layout will show you the way the left and right doors should be installed. IKEA’s doors are installed the same way.
Hinges will need to be purchased at IKEA or from Noremax. Hinges for our Linoleum fronts needs to be purchased from us due to the door thickness.
If you have any doubts or questions, please contact us.
What is the position of the hinges in a Pax wardrobe measuring 236 cm?
Pax wardrobe, 236 cm high, the position of the hinges – starting from the top:
Hinge 1, hole No: 3/4
Hinge 2, hole No: 32/33
Hinge 3, hole No: 38/39
Hinge 4, hole No: 67/68 or 3/4 starting from the bottom
How the back of the Soft matte front looks like?
The back of the Soft matte Exit and Soft matte Circle design will show the framing of the handle. This will be visible but will not affect the use of the doors/drawers.
Since this design is made of two different materials- MDF covered in Polymer foil the framing is placed for support of the grip that has been carved. With this, it will also be possible to order front with a different color in the grip. As the handle will be in constant use no filler could be put in the lines. The filler would have cracks appearing after a few uses making the front look defective.
Please note Linoleum design and lacquered MDF with a milled grip will not have this visible framing in the back, as the Linoleum front will have a wood veneer at the back covering the frame and the MDF fronts are milled in the material itself and not all the way through.
Please note, the inner edges of the Soft Matte Circle and Exit grips are not covered with polymeric foil, only the center of it. The inner edges have exposed MDF covered with hard wax oil but they are not visible from the front.
How to unpack Soft Ultra-Matt fronts?
After unwrapping the fronts from the brown paper and installing them, please peel carefully the protective foil from each front (back, front and edges). This is a quite simple and quick process.
The foil protects the matte surface of the product from any scratches during transit and handling.
Please note you may notice wood dust or other small grime stuck to the surface of your fronts under the protective film. This is not a defect and it can be gently scratched off with an applicator card or anything else that is firm but not sharp.
Is the integrated grip in different colours from the rest of the front for Nordic+ designs?
The grip for Nordic+ Elegance, Instyle and Circle will have slightly different shades as the handles are engraved in birch plywood and the front of the door/drawer will be covered with ash or oak veneer. 2 different wood structures will show the finish differently.
Depending on the finish (clear coat or different stain colours) the end look will also be affected.
Maintenance
How can I reduce damage to my fronts?
To maximize the lifespan of your cabinet fronts, you must follow instructions on how to reduce the risk of damage. All of our fronts are sprayed with a high-quality lacquer but incorrect care could cause damage to the surface. Do not wash or scrub the cabinet fronts with strong chemical cleaning products as this can cause discolouration or damage to the surface.
Special care should be taken when using your oven; always keep the oven doors shut when in use to prevent damage to the kitchen cabinet fronts caused by high temperatures. Similarly, you should also take care of the front of your dishwasher if you have one to reduce the water and steam affecting the kitchen cabinets.
How to clean Noremax products?
To keep your kitchen fronts, sides of cabinets, and other lacquered elements looking their best we advise that you use a soft, damp cloth to clean. If required, a mild detergent such as soap may be suitable. After cleaning, wipe dry immediately and thoroughly. You mustn’t use any other chemicals; these can cause discoloration and act as an abrasive which will irreparably damage your fronts.
For more on how to clean our fronts, please see https://www.noremax.com/uk/principles-of-care/.
Will Noremax fronts start to crack above the hob, as well as by the dishwasher in time?
Our fronts are designed to withstand the demands of daily life for many years. For industrial kitchens, we recommend using epoxy paints which will protect and extend your kitchen’s durability and resistance to damage. Noremax treats the kitchen cabinet fronts with two-component acid-cured paint from Akzo Nobel, a leading global paints and coatings company for domestic kitchens.
To keep the fronts in a good condition both aesthetically and in terms of their function, do not use strong chemicals on them. Furthermore, kitchen cabinet fronts should not be exposed to extreme conditions such as excessive heat or moisture. If they become water damaged, they must be dried thoroughly and immediately.
At Noremax, our fronts are manufactured using high-quality, natural materials and offer fantastic protection against crackling, regardless of the finish you choose.
Our fronts are covered with primer and 2 coats of paint but as with any painted product on the market, if they are not used correctly, they can show signs of use after few years.
Finally, with us, you get a 2-year warranty, provided that the installation and maintenance instructions are followed.
How to store the paint sample that Noremax sends with the products?
The 100ml paint you purchase with your products will need to be kept out of the way of children and pets.
You should also ensure paints are kept away from food products.
Store in a dark, dry and cool location away from sunlight and where the temperature stays above freezing.
Keep the screw cap closed tightly.
Before use, shake the bottle a few times. Use only in ventilated places.
The liquid paint can be used as long as it does not thicken. The shelf life is about 6 months.
Polyurethane paint comes in 3 jars:
– 100ml paint (including Satin gloss)
– 50ml solvent
– 50ml polyurethane (hardener)
All 3 bottles need to be mixed together ONLY before use. Polyurethane cures very fast and if left mixed with paint and solvent will turn to a “jelly” consistency. If you wish to save some of the paint for later then please mix only half of each product at a time.
How to maintain the dishwasher front and the door placed above the oven?
Please be aware that when using a dishwasher or oven, producers commonly advise keeping the door shut for about 15min after the dishwasher or oven is turned off. Otherwise, our fronts will be exposed to high temperatures and steam and that may weaken the fronts over years. The door soaks up the moisture in the air, this moisture causes the door to warp. A warped door will generally not close correctly as well.
We would also advise not to place fronts that are covered with wood veneer or linoleum above the hob where extensive exposure to heat may cause damage to the fronts.
Fronts for integrated dishwashers and under the oven will not be covered with a guarantee. With those fronts, you risk that the hot steam from the dishwasher and heat and moisture from the oven is so powerful that they can cause the surface on the front to crack and damage over time.
We would recommend choosing polyurethane paint for better durability.
How strong are the grips on designs with engraved handles?
Grips on doors with engraved handles like Ontime, Instyle, Elegance, Circle, Exit, Moon, Empire or Escape are suitable for everyday use.
We don’t recommend putting too much pressure on those grips, hanging on them or pulling them too hard. Also, we would recommend to grab the handle in different places instead of the same one all the time.
Special care is required when using fridge or freezer doors. The air inside a fridge or freezer contracts as it gets colder. This creates suction, which makes opening the door difficult. If the door is closed quickly or slammed shut, air will be forced out and it may take several minutes for the vacuum to be released, after which the door can be opened normally.
Colours, gloss and finishes
What paint types does Noremax offer?
Noremax offers 2 types of paint:
1. The standard coat is by well-known paint manufacturer Akzo Nobel, which has dozens of dealers worldwide. The varnish type is an acid-hardened two-component used by many kitchen manufacturers for a fair durable result. This paint is less resistant to scratches and chipping, and less water-resistant.
Standard paint can be covered with 3 types of gloss: semi-gloss, satin or matte.
2. Polyurethane paint is an industrial fast curing, 2-component paint with outstanding resistance to abrasion, heat, chemical attack, and water ingress. It’s easier to maintain and clean. This paint is basically plastic in a liquid form until it dries.
Polyurethane paint will be in stain gloss only.
What Range of colours can I choose?
At Noremax, we pride ourselves on the range of colours that we offer buyers. This includes a custom matching service that can match any colour you provide us – ensuring that your product arrives looking exactly the way you need it to (you must have an NCS code matching the colour you like). There might be slight differences in colour but normally they are not noticeable to the naked eye.
We work with NCS codes but we accept colour names or codes from Jotun, Farrow & Ball or Little Greene so you can take your time selecting your complimenting colour palette and we will handle the rest.
What if I need just one front? Will there be a difference in the colour shade? Do I have to change all fronts?
If you are planning on remodeling only part of your kitchen, there’s always a small risk that the colours will not match completely even if you provide the NCS colour. Unfortunately, due to the production of the fronts in batches, there’s a chance that the level of gloss and colour shade may differ from the rest of your kitchen.
Several other factors can affect the colour of your kitchen cabinet’s fronts including exposure to the sun, chemical products used for cleaning, or the age of your existing kitchen as paint colours will discolour over time. To ensure your kitchen cabinets match 100% it is strongly advised that you change all fronts at the same time.
Please note that there is a min order fee of £188 to cover start-up costs so if you order just one front which will cost less than the mind order fee you will still have to pay the full £188 plus delivery cost.
I only have the name of the colour from Ikea, what do I need to do to be able to order from Noremax?
To complete your replacement fronts order, you must provide the NCS code for your paint or choose any F&B, Jotun or Little Greene paint name or code. We do not have a list of colours provided by Ikea, so it is important you source this information before placing your order with Noremax.
If you don’t look for a precious shade you can choose from the most popular colours on our website (they are not Ikea colours).
If you are struggling to find the information you require about the colour, we recommend that you ask your local paint supplier to assist. Most of them will be able to scan your desired colour sample or provide an NCS code index. However, this does not guarantee 100% colour integrity. The difference may be minor.
Please note: Noremax accepts no responsibility if you supply us with the incorrect NCS code so you must make sure all information is true and correct upon submission to us.
What types of gloss do you offer?
Matte (10% sheen)
Satin (20% sheen)
Semi-gloss (40% sheen)
Is there a curing time for lacquered fronts?
We use industrial varnish from Akzo Nobel, after 4 weeks this varnish is 100% hardened on the fronts. You can use the fronts when receiving them but take extra care when mounting to avoid damage and scratches. The smell of the colour may feel a little strong when opening the package, but it disappears relatively quickly with the help of airing out.
We also offer polyurethane paint that hardens immediately after applying but curing time is also recommended.
Does the price include colour and gloss?
Yes, the price includes colour (standard Akzo Nobel paint) and semi-gloss. There’s an additional cost of 5% for satin and 10% for a matte finish.
There is, also an additional charge for polyurethane paint and that’s 30% extra for most of the designs (Bamboo 15% extra, Nordic+ 20%, no polyurethane paint on Linoleum and Soft Ultra-Matt). This paint comes in free satin finish.
Does Noremax use the actual Farrow & Ball / Jotun / Little Greene paint to paint the fronts?
No. We use trusted custom paint made for the manufacturers which is mixed with your chosen gloss type (semi-gloss, satin, matte).
The colour is being created based on the NCS codes we have for Farrow&Ball, Jotun or Little Greene paints. They will provide the closest match possible to the original colour. A minor difference may occur between our paint and the original colours.
Will linoleum colours change the shade?
The light linoleum colours kept in dark may temporarily be yellowed but when they will get unpacked and will be left in daylight for min. 24h they will go back to their original colour.
This is a natural product, and some light colours’ hues may differ from batch to batch.
Measurements and customizations
What if my kitchen is not from IKEA? Can I still order fronts from Noremax?
Our standard kitchen front measurements are designed to fit IKEA kitchens however if you have another brand of the kitchen, we are still able to help you. Noremax can produce custom-made fronts for your kitchen, so do not hesitate in getting in touch.
If you would like us to help transform your kitchen, you would need to firstly select the design you like, and then provide a detailed list of all front’s measurements in mm.
In such instances, you would need to take full responsibility for the provided measurements and so it is recommended that you get the assistance of a professional carpenter or architect if required. Customized fronts will come with the hinge holes placement the same as the original IKEA closest size or can be made without pre-drilled holes.
Customization service will be charged extra and quotations will be provided separately.
Please note: If you are interested in Noremax producing custom replacement kitchen cabinet fronts, you will need to submit your request via email to your local Noremax representative as this is classified as a special order.
If you are ordering products that will require customization, you need to choose the invoice payment option so we can make all necessary amendments to your order before we can send a correct invoice. Here you can still request to pay via PayPal and we will create for you a PayPal invoice.
Please note, if your customized products will need to be longer than our standard sizes and measuring more than 240cm, the shipping cost will rise by 25% as per our carrier tariff.
Can Noremax products be customized?
We understand that many of our customers want to inject some of their own personalities and style into their homes. All of our products carry a range of bespoke options to help empower you to own the home you envision.
Each of our items, whether they are legs, storage, sideboard, wardrobe or kitchen doors can be customized to commercial standards (all within offered options). This includes customizing the finish of our legs, colour and gloss of your fronts, material and design.
You can also customize the size of the fronts. Please contact us for more information as there will be additional charges applied to that. A separate quote will need to be provided.
Please note, all custom sizes need to be provided in mm including any negative intolerances (sub-dimensions). We won’t be able to take responsibility for incorrect sizes of custom products. If you are not sure about that size, please consult with your local carpenter.
Are the measurements you have on the website exactly the same as IKEA’s?
Yes, the measurements are (as IKEA also gives them) in the whole CM. However, the actual measurements on the fronts themselves are usually made with negative tolerances. This is done because there needs to be a tiny clearance so you can open the fronts without them touching.
If the measurement does not show full CM’s, please round up to the nearest CM’s. For example, 297 mm would be referred to as 30 cm.
Faktum kitchen fronts will also show rounded measurements but the exact sizes can be found under the question mark next to each product.
Will the dishwasher front fit any dishwasher?
IKEA designed their kitchens to only fit the dishwashers they offer. If you have purchased a dishwasher elsewhere or already had one before buying IKEA’s kitchen, please be aware that neither ours nor IKEA’s dishwasher front will not fit perfectly. You may find you will have to make custom adjustments.
What are the exact sizes for Noremax side panels?
The Noremax side panel sizes are exactly the same as IKEA’s. Most of them have a small intolerance but the sizes are rounded up.
– PAX wardrobe side panels show the exact measurements on our website.
– Sideboards have the exact measurements under the question marks next to each side panel on our website.
– Metod kitchens have only one measurement rounded for side panels and that’s 62cm width that actually is 61.5cm. Rest is exactly as shown on our website.
– Faktum kitchen have the same side panel sizes as Metod kitchens so they will need to be adjusted by customers on-site or we can customize them for the additional fee.
– Storage side panels will have the exact measurements already on our website.
