Metod – Nordic Skyline

£ 0.00

Nordic Skyline is a perfect choice if you love nature and exclusive designs. The design is made of a wood-veneered front with an elegant, slatted surface. This is a representation of timeless design that allows the kitchen to come alive even more. The pattern creates movement, and the treatment of the fronts allows the wood grains to shine through for another level of depth. Nordic Skyline can be treated in three different ways:

1. Ash can be painted in the desired colour and gloss. Due to the porousness of the oak, this is not optimal for spray paint in solid lacquer.
2. Both ash and oak can be delivered in only clear lacquer on the surface to retain the natural wood nuance.
3. Both ash and oak can be stained and treated with clear lacquer on top.

Material: Made of MDF covered with ash or oak veneer

Painted fronts are treated with two-component acid curing lacquer from Akzo Nobel. When choosing fronts spray-painted in solid color, it is important to note that the color is ordered on prescription for color match. The result depends mainly on the material and method of application, but also what kind of product being used in relation to shade and gloss. This entails that painted fronts from Noremax will not necessarily look the same as other surfaces painted in the same color with a different product.

Paint: Akzo Nobel standard paint – available in semi-gloss, satin and matte finish or Polyurethane paint – available in a satin finish only

Akzo Nobel standard paint is an industrial paint that is less resistant to scratches and chipping, and less water-resistant. Polyurethane paint is an industrial paint that is more durable, more waterproof, more scratch resistant, and easier to maintain and clean.

The side panels are usually wider than the cabinet itself. This is to cover the carcass, the thickness of the front plus a few mm to be able to adapt the side panel to the wall/floor which often turns to be uneven. When using a hanging rail, the side does not necessarily cover the full thickness of the front.

The side panels are delivered in standard dimensions while the fronts vary in thickness depending on the design. Please contact us if you would like to order other dimensions than what is in our range.

Side panels to cover Ikea METOD Carcasses

Sides are cover panels used on the sides of the cabinet frames. The purpose of the panels is to give the design a comprehensive and coherent expression. It is therefore also natural to choose the same colour on the side panels as on the fronts. The side panels from Noremax are made of the same material as the fronts and are treated with the same durable lacquer.

Should you require side panels in sizes not found in the standard selection, it is common practice to order panels one size larger and then cut down to size. The side panels can also be used for other purposes such as shelves and furnishings to name a few.

Please note that the dimensions of our side panels are rounded up to the nearest cm. Read more under our FAQ.

Nordic Skyline side panels DO NOT have grooves on them. They will be plain.

    Color code on stain

Nordic fronts can be stained instead of spray-painted in any colour. Stains are the pigments that pull into the wood so that it gets stained and the wood structure appears more or less depending on the chosen stain colour (for dark colours it will give the illusion of different shades). Veins and pores often darken and the colour shades of the wood appear more. Tick off the stain you want. Note that the colours may be different on the screen than in reality. If you are unsure about the colour you want, you can order a sample.
If you want a different colour than shown below, you can enter a colour code in the box below.

E.g. Stain colour from Jotun Lady Pure Nature:

You can either fill in the colour name / colour code in this box OR choose one of the popular colour options

Due to a more complex production process of colours in the Little Greene palette, an additional charge of £ 225 will be applied.

Before you choose a Little Greene colour, kindly reach out to us to confirm its availability. Little Greene periodically archives certain colours, and we may not possess samples for matching purposes. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated.

    Popular colour options:

NCS code it’s an international Natural Colour System which accurately communicates the colours we see to pinpoint precise colour. Any paint shop will have an NCS index so you can check and choose the colour you like. They can also make a paint sample with your chosen colour. Please check our BLOG for more information.

Choose the paint type and gloss finish

Standard paint: Semi-gloss - without additional charge, Satin 5% additional charge, Matte 10% additional charge
Polyurethane paint: Satin only - 30% additional charge

Polyurethane can be used for many different purposes, but in this case, it is used as a surface treatment for fronts, sidepanels and plinths. Polyurethane varnish is an industrial varnish that is more durable and scratch-resistant, but also easier to maintain and clean.
The choice of varnish must be considered according to your own use and needs. Due to its resistant properties, we recommend polyurethane varnish for kitchens.

Screws are not included with the side panels, so we recommend using ordinary mounting screws purchased separately or from us.

Slatted timber fronts for IKEA Metod kitchens

Nordic Skyline is the sister design to Skyline. In contrary to the sister design, these fronts are designed with a wood veneer on top of the MDF core. The veneer can be made in either Ash or Oak which allows you to choose whether you want the fronts painted in full coverage lacquer or stained in one of our 12 beautiful wood stains. Of course, you also have an option to treat the wood veneer in either clear coat lacquer or hard wax oil to keep the natural look and feel of the wood.

The Nordic Skyline design is perfect if you are looking to keep the texture of the wooden material. The different finishes allow you to still experience the grains of the fronts, on different levels. The option of full coverage paint is only available for fronts in Ash and allows the user to feel and see the grain from a close distance. The option is tasteful, elegant, and adaptable as you can choose colours from three different suppliers.

If you want the wood grains to play the main part of the design, we suggest you go for either stained or natural fronts in your preferred wood (Ash or Oak). The texture of the wood will be visible and shine through the finishes whether you choose a simple clear coat, walnut stain, or hard wax oil treatment.

How to match the Nordic Skyline design?

Nordic Skyline can be matched in several different ways to suit your personal need and preference. The design can become the hero of the space or simply a quiet contribution to the interior. It all depends on your chosen finish. Do you prefer to receive your fronts painted in a bold colour or stained in a neutral hue?

Either way, we are here to help you customize the design. Paint the Nordic Skyline fronts in a neutral colour and match with wooden fronts from our Bamboo+ collection or keep the natural look of the wooden fronts and match with a coloured front from our standard collection. Check out our Instyle design for handleless and minimal fronts, or the design Basic to let the wood fronts stand out in the kitchen.

Another option is to combine the Nordic Skyline fronts with our new collection Glass. The collection consists of three different designs with glass mirrors. Glass Classic Style has a 90° angle between the frame and the mirror and it is a great complement to the timber fronts. The fronts add a contemporary feeling to the timber fronts. Combined, the two designs would create the perfect balance between minimalism and contemporary design.

We also have a wide selection of furniture accessories, including handles, which go perfectly with the design. You can choose from different designs and different materials to make sure you’ll be happy with the final result. Are you looking for a discreet knob or an expressive handle? Check out our selection of handles and find something to match with your Nordic Skyline fronts.
