Nordic Walnut lets you bring a piece of nature into your home. The design is made of walnut-veneered fronts with the bold texture of the walnut as the centrepiece. The design works well in both rustic and modern interiors, creating a unique expression with each front. A new favourite in our standard collection!

Fronts and side panels in Nordic Walnut can be treated in two different ways:

1. Clear lacquer to retain the natural wood nuance.
2. Hard wax oil to retain the natural wood feel & nuance.

Material: Made of MDF covered with walnut veneer

Painted fronts are treated with two-component acid curing lacquer from Akzo Nobel. When choosing fronts spray-painted in solid color, it is important to note that the color is ordered on prescription for color match. The result depends mainly on the material and method of application, but also what kind of product being used in relation to shade and gloss. This entails that painted fronts from Noremax will not necessarily look the same as other surfaces painted in the same color with a different product.

Akzo Nobel standard paint is an industrial paint that is less resistant to scratches and chipping, and less water-resistant. Polyurethane paint is an industrial paint that is more durable, more waterproof, more scratch resistant, and easier to maintain and clean.

    Fronts to Ikea METOD series for:

    The fronts of our Nordic Walnut model are suitable for base and top cabinets and fit the right and left hinges.

    If the hinges are on the right, the door is right hung. If the hinges are on the left, the door is left hung.

    Horizontal doors mean doors that open in a vertical movement (upwards).

    IKEA has changed the hinge system for horizontal doors. For newly purchased kitchen-choose drawer fronts for horizontal adaptation.

    Sides are cover panels used on the sides of the cabinet frames. The purpose of the panels is to give the design a comprehensive and coherent expression. It is therefore also natural to choose the same colour on the side panels as on the fronts. Sides are also used as linings and are usually cut and adjusted during assembly.

    The side panels from Noremax are made of 12 mm MDF and come in the same material and finish as the fronts. But it is also possible to have them customized and made in the same thickness as the fronts.

    The side panels are usually wider than the cabinet itself. This is to cover the carcass itself, the thickness of the front (door) plus a few mm to be able to adjust the panel to the wall/floor which often turns out to be uneven. Please note that the dimensions of our side panels are rounded up to the nearest cm. Exact measurements can be found under the blue question mark next to the product, dimensions may vary +/-1mm. Our sides are universal and most of them will have the same dimensions as Ikea's. Read more under our FAQ. If you want the side panels to be flushed with the fronts, it may be necessary to order them customized with a wider width. Whether this is necessary and what width is required will depend on the type of design (thickness of the selected front) and the mounting method of the cabinet frame (with or without Ikea's mounting rail).

     

     

    The sides can be adapted by cutting the sides facing the wall or floor. Side panels should be mounted from the inside of the cabinet using mounting screws. Screws do not come with side panels, so we recommend using very common mounting screws that can be purchased separately.

    Should you require side panels in sizes not found in the standard selection, it is common practice to order panels one size larger and then cut down to size. The side panels can also be used for other purposes such as shelves and furnishings to name a few.

    Width x Height

    Plinth is available in standard NCS or Jotun colour, Farrow&Ball and Little Greene and in brass colour.

    The plinth is the cover used to hide the opening between the base cabinet and the floor. The covers are made of 18 mm water-resistant MDF with walnut veneer. The covers come with clips and are available in two lengths (1.2 and 2.4 meters) for on-site customization.

    The ventilation grill is utilized in the plinth for integrated appliances or in any other location where it is needed. It is made of stainless steel that is coloured. Please note that the Noremax ventilation grill has a different installation system from others.

    Width x Height

    The decor strip is made of the same material as the fronts with dimensions of 30 x 55 mm and is delivered in a standard length of 2.4 meters and cut down to size on the assembly place. The strip is usually used to conceal lighting mounted under the top cabinets. They are supplied in the same durable paint as your fronts.

    Choose the paint type and gloss finish

    Standard paint: Semi-gloss - without additional charge, Satin 5% additional charge, Matte 10% additional charge
    Polyurethane paint: Satin only - 20% additional charge

    Polyurethane can be used for many different purposes, but in this case, it is used as a surface treatment for fronts, sidepanels and plinths. Polyurethane varnish is an industrial varnish that is more durable and scratch-resistant, but also easier to maintain and clean.
    The choice of varnish must be considered according to your own use and needs. Due to its resistant properties, we recommend polyurethane varnish for kitchens.

    Screws are not included with the side panels, so we recommend using ordinary mounting screws purchased separately or from us.

    Order extra lacquer in case of damage when assembling or for other later occasions.
    Attn! Extra varnish can only be ordered together with fronts, never on it´s own. Therefore, we always recommend ordering some extra.

Walnut fronts for IKEA Metod kitchens

Nordic Walnut is a new addition to our Nordic Collection. Both fronts and side panels in this design is produced from 16 mm thick veneered MDF. But unlike the other Nordic designs, Nordic Walnut, like the name suggests, has a veneer made of walnut instead of ash or oak.

The Nordic Walnut design is perfect if you are looking to highlight the natural wooden texture of the walnut veneer. You can choose to have your Nordic Walnut fronts treated with a clear coat or with hard wax oil.

By using a clear topcoat, you keep the natural tone of the wood, showing the grain and distinct annual rings this material offers. With this option, you can choose between 3 different gloss finishes. Hard wax oil gives the wooden surface the most natural appearance and leaves a matte finish.

Both these treatments focus on bringing out the exclusive and natural characteristics of the walnut veneer and letting it be the statement of your interior.
