Nordic Walnut – Pax Wardrobe

 0,00

Embrace nature in your interior with our new addition to the standard collection, Nordic Walnut! With its walnut veneered surface, this design brings the bold texture of the walnut into focus. Each front will have a unique expression and you can create both modern and rustic looks with this design. Add your favourite details or let the fronts speak for themselves. Either way, we are sure that you will love Nordic Walnut as much as we do!

Fronts and side panels in Nordic Walnut can be treated in two different ways:

1. Clear lacquer to retain the natural wood nuance.
2. Hard wax oil to retain the natural wood feel & nuance.

Material: Made of MDF covered with walnut veneer

Painted fronts are treated with two-component acid curing lacquer from Akzo Nobel. When choosing fronts spray-painted in solid color, it is important to note that the color is ordered on prescription for color match. The result depends mainly on the material and method of application, but also what kind of product being used in relation to shade and gloss. This entails that painted fronts from Noremax will not necessarily look the same as other surfaces painted in the same color with a different product.

Paint: Akzo Nobel standard paint – available in semi-gloss, satin and matte finish or Polyurethane paint – available in a satin finish only

Akzo Nobel standard paint is an industrial paint that is less resistant to scratches and chipping, and less water-resistant. Polyurethane paint is an industrial paint that is more durable, more waterproof, more scratch resistant, and easier to maintain and clean.

Sides are cover panels used on the sides of the cabinet frames. The purpose of the panels is to give the design a comprehensive and coherent expression. It is therefore also natural to choose the same colour on the side panels as on the fronts. The side panels from Noremax are made of the same material as the fronts and are treated with the same durable lacquer. The thickness of the side panels for Nordic Walnut is 16 mm but can vary +/- 1 mm.

Should you require side panels in sizes not found in the standard selection, it is common practice to order panels one size larger and then cut down to size. The side panels can also be used for other purposes such as shelves and furnishings to name a few.

Side panels to cover Ikea Pax frame

The side panels are usually wider than the cabinet itself. This is to cover the frame, the thickness of the front (door) plus a few mm to be able to adjust the panel to the wall/floor which often turns out to be uneven. Side panels can always be customized by cutting the sides facing the wall or floor.

Side panels should be mounted from the inside of the cabinet using mounting screws. Screws are not included, so we recommend using common mounting screws that can be purchased separately or directly from us.

Please note that the dimensions of our side panels are rounded up to the nearest cm. Please read more under our FAQ.

    Width x Height

Plinths are used to cover the opening between the wardrobe and floor. They are delivered complete with clips and screws for mounting.

The plinths are available in three different lengths - 50, 75 and 100 cm. You can check the actual plinth length under the blue question mark next to the product. Noremax plinth is designed to replace the original IKEA plinth. This will result in the small pieces of the original wardrobe sides showing next to the Noremax plinth.

Noremax offers two options to create a cohesive design:

    1. Choose 4,4 cm prolonged doors: These doors are are designed to cover most of the plinth, providing a seamless look for your wardrobe. This option also works well when keeping the original plinth from IKEA.

    2. Paint the exposed sides with matching lacquer: Noremax provides the option to purchase 100ml extra lacquer along with your doors, side panels and plinths. This allows you to paint the exposed sides. It’s important to note that there may be slight differences in the finish, due to the frame being made from a different material than Noremax fronts. This option is only available for lacquered designs.

The plinth has the same height as the plinth of the wardrobe carcass.

Choose the paint type and gloss finish

Standard paint: Semi-gloss - without additional charge, Satin 5% additional charge, Matte 10% additional charge
Polyurethane paint: Satin only - 20% additional charge

Polyurethane can be used for many different purposes, but in this case, it is used as a surface treatment for fronts, sidepanels and plinths. Polyurethane varnish is an industrial varnish that is more durable and scratch-resistant, but also easier to maintain and clean.
The choice of varnish must be considered according to your own use and needs. Due to its resistant properties, we recommend polyurethane varnish for kitchens.

Screws are not included with the side panels, so we recommend using ordinary mounting screws purchased separately or from us.

Walnut fronts for IKEA Pax Wardrobe

Nordic Walnut is a new addition to our Nordic Collection for Pax. Both fronts and side panels in this design is produced from 16 mm thick veneered MDF. But unlike the other Nordic designs, Nordic Walnut, like the name suggests, has a veneer made of walnut instead of ash or oak.

The Nordic Walnut design is perfect if you are looking to highlight the natural wooden texture of the walnut veneer. You can choose to have your Nordic Walnut fronts treated with a clear coat or with hard wax oil.

By using a clear topcoat, you keep the natural tone of the wood, showing the grain and distinct annual rings this material offers. With this option you can choose between 3 different gloss finishes. Hard wax oil gives the wooden surface the most natural appearance and leaves a matte finish.

Both these treatments focus on bringing out the exclusive and natural characteristics of the walnut veneer and let it be the statement of your interior.

Why choose Nordic Walnut?

• The natural texture and grain of these fronts offers each customer a truly unique and exclusive design.
• Ideal for anyone who prefers a modern Nordic design made of natural materials.
