The last few years have been a very different time. Both year 2020, 2021 and soon also 2022 have been and will be characterised by the working from home culture. Naturally, we have all had to adjust to the pandemic and the situation of the world and we have all started to appreciate that our home environments are more than important.
To feel good about yourself, your life and your home is everything we can ask for and we are here to help with that. We have therefore produced a design inspired by nature. The slatted timber fronts can be purchased in several different finishes to make sure that there is something for everyone and every room.
The slatted timber fronts are designed with either oak or ash veneer on top on a core of MDF. If you choose the ash veneer, you can choose to have your fronts spray painted in two component oxygen cured lacquer from Akzo Nobel. The lacquer offers full coverage but allows the timber grains to shine through in certain lights. Unfortunately this option is only available for ash veener as oak veneer doesn’t absorb lacquer in the same way. So if you want a specific colour for your Nordic Skyline fronts, choose ash veneer!
Inspired by nature
The slatted timber fronts consist of 22,70 mm wide bars and they are spaced on a distance of 2,7 mm from each other. The vertical pattern of engraved lines creates a sense of depth which is inspired by the natural landscape. As the pandemic have resulted in a lot of home sitting, people have also gotten inspired to seek out nature. It doesn’t matter if it is a walk in a park, stroll on the beach or hike in a national park, we all needed that time away from our everyday lives.
The Nordic Skyline front is a celebration of a balanced life. The timber veneer, in addition to the pattern of the front, contributes to the feeling of letting nature inside your home. If you want to maintains that feeling, we suggest you check out our three other alternative finishes for the Skyline front. These treatments are available for both ash and oak veneer and it will enhance the timber structure and allow the natural timber grains to shine through and maintain a sense of nature within the kitchen design.
The first two alternative treatments are to have your slatted timber fronts treated with clear coat lacquer or hard wax oil. Both these options allow the timber nuance, texture and grains to shine through completely. If you want are looking for a ash or oak finish, then this is the design for you!
So, what’s the difference between the two? The clear coat is a lacquer placed on top of the timber. The lacquer is transparent so that you can see the colour and the timber grains. However, the texture will be hidden behind a layer of lacquer. This is a great option that requires little maintenance. The hard wax oil will be absorbed by the material, it will allow for the grains and texture to still be felt and visible. But to preserve the nuance of the timber, these fronts will have to be maintained and reoiled every once in a while. Both comes with pros and cons, both are beautiful options to preserve the look and grans of the timber veneer.
The last option is to have your slatted timber fronts treated in one of our 12 beautiful stains. Are you looking for a darker wood texture like walnut or a charcoal colour but still want the timber grains to shine through? Then this is a great alternative.
